I'm over these IR books in which the Black woman is always "thick." Every Black woman is not big boned. It irritates me. Anyway, the story is pretty good and I didn't find myself rolling my eyes. Both characters were likeable and the plot was well developed.

Excellent classical based exercises that can make a good difference!

Hanon is a set of exercises in scales etc. that carried over from piano (to my knowledge). They look simple but increase in difficulty, Classic training, but stick with them and you will develop an ear that no lead guitarist will leave you lagging! I still play bad, but have gotten farther along on these exercises than anything else. My wife used Hanon exercises on her piano and plays beautiful classic pieces. I was trading licks with our lead guitarist and they looked at me and said, "You have been doing some serious practicing!"

I'm a beginning bass player. This book is actually beyond my current skill level, but even working just one measure at a time I can see where this is not only building up my left hand dexterity and strength, It is correcting some bad habits I was already picking up.
As a musician of many years, ( I'm not really a piano player, but I can do at least the first two exercises from the Hanon method for piano) I'm finding it to be indispensable to not only strengthening my fingers and building dexterity, but learning to make my fingering more efficient.

It is diveded to parts and you can choose where to put your emphasis on.
Starting with the first pages and waiting before moving to other parts is not recommended.

Captivating read on Amelia's Misadventures

A captivating narrative & chronicle of the flying life and times of pilot Amelia Earhart, both researched 18 years and written by Exec. Dir. of TIGHAR, an Internat. Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery. We are provided detailed accounts of Earhart's two world flight attempts, neither successful, with the aviatrix's last contact being July 2, 1937 while enroute to Howland Isle from Lae, New Guinea and thence to California.

Glimpses are given of Amelia Earhart's quest for notoriety during her earlier years which found her intrigued by flying machines, seeking adventure, finding celebrity status & desiring increased role for American women. But, it is not a bibliography or even a book about Amelia. It is a book of Amelia's monomaniacal attachment to flying, her aeronautical skill confines, that emphasizes her attempts to encircle the globe, imprima her 2nd attempt going Eastward, departing Oakland, California on May 19, 1937 accompanied by navigator Fred Noonan in her Lockheed Electra 10E twin engine aircraft. There is detailed & documented accountings of the massive search by US Coast Guard and Naval ships & planes and detailed reference to ships' logs of communications, etc., and interviews with Ham Radio operators who credibly appear to have identified her signals. The many B/W photographs, maps and the DVD are commendatory to this scholarly study. A few readers may find the detailed readings, etc., of the ships' logs and radiocommunication transmission times and references to frequencies and harmonics confusing & tedious, but the author's intentions to present the factual data is preserved.

You pays your money and you takes your pick

Between Elgin Long and Ric Gillespie I think Mr. Long's theory about Miss Earhart's disappearance is more plausible but the thing is, Gillespie could be right. He makes his best case but it requires taking some things on faith and I think it's less plausible than Long's theory. Gillespie has been going to Nikamaruro for many years now and although he's come back with some interesting bits and pieces of junk he has yet to find any smoking gun. Still, the book is interesting to read and then you can decide who makes the better case.

Flying in the blind.

Very technical story of Amelia's last flight. A lot of good information of communications technology of the day which required some research on my part to understand some of those aspects in the book. I came away believing Amelia had no business making this type of flight and now have doubts she was anything but a very average pilot for the day. This flight required a bunch more preparation then it appeared she had taken. Did she have life preservers or a life boat, we still don't know. I would have like to know if she or her navigator could swim. If the plane went down in sight of some land with no life preserver or raft and they couldn't swim it was certain death.

About the Author
Michael Robinson is a cyber threat intelligence analyst and senior digital forensic examiner for a large, international corporation. Michael has conducted computer and mobile device forensic investigations for commercial and government agencies. He previously performed computer and cell phone exploitation and analysis for customers in the U.S. Intelligence Community. Additionally, Michael performed computer forensic examinations in the FBI’s Investigative Analysis Unit, where he assisted special agents with counter-intelligence and criminal cases. Michael is the former CIO of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Business Transformation Agency, where he oversaw all information technology and information assurance operations for the agency, including overseeing all incident response and forensic investigations. Michael is the Program Coordinator and Adjunct Professor for Stevenson University’s Master of Science in Cyber Forensics. He is the recipient of Stevenson University's Rose Dawson Award for outstanding adjunct faculty member of the year. He teaches courses in mobile device forensics, intrusion analysis, and cyber warfare. Michael is also an Adjunct Professor in George Mason University’s Master of Science in Computer Forensics. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, a Master of Science in Information Assurance, a Master of Science in Forensic Studies (concentrating on computer forensics), and a graduate certificate in Applied Intelligence. Michael has presented at numerous national and international conferences including DEF CON, the DoD and U.S. Cyber Crime Conferences, CEIC, InfoSec World, and the BCISS Conference on Intelligence Analysis. He has authored over a dozen journal articles and a book on disaster recovery planning for nonprofit organizations.

I found the book to be a clear, concise, and easy to follow guide. It helps the novice and expert to take the steps required for forensic analyses. The book covers a wide variety of very important and appliable topics, like: file carving, prefetch files, and artifacts in the registry. The workbook steps are keyed to graphics and detailed instructions. I found it easy to read and helpful as a new forensic analyst and would alos be applicable as a reference/refresher for key functons.

This study of perception and misperception in foreign policy was a landmark in the application of cognitive psychology to political decision making. The New York Times called it, in an article published nearly ten years after the book's appearance, "the seminal statement of principles underlying political psychology."

The perspective established by Jervis remains an important counterpoint to structural explanations of international politics, and from it has developed a large literature on the psychology of leaders and the problems of decision making under conditions of incomplete information, stress, and cognitive bias.

Jervis begins by describing the process of perception (for example, how decision makers learn from history) and then explores common forms of misperception (such as overestimating one's influence). Finally, he tests his ideas through a number of important events in international relations from nineteenth- and twentieth-century European history.

In a contemporary application of Jervis's ideas, some argue that Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1990 in part because he misread the signals of American leaders with regard to the independence of Kuwait. Also, leaders of the United States and Iraq in the run-up to the most recent Gulf War might have been operating under cognitive biases that made them value certain kinds of information more than others, whether or not the information was true. Jervis proved that, once a leader believed something, that perception would influence the way the leader perceived all other relevant information.

amazing overuse of passive voice

To be concise (which Jervis seems to be incapable of) I'll say that if you can get through the extraneous prose, amazing overuse of passive voice, and massive run on sentences it's a great book. It was like reading a Medieval scroll of truly revolutionary International Relations concepts.
