About the Author

Michael G. Raymer received his PhD from the University of Colorado in 1979. After a tenure on the faculty at the Institute of Optics, University of Rochester, he moved to the University of Oregon in 1988, where he became founding Director of the Oregon Center for Optics. His research focuses on the quantum mechanics of light and its interaction with atoms, molecules, and semiconductors, with applications in nonlinear optics, communications technology, and quantum information. In 1993, his group reported the first instance of experimental quantum-state tomography of light. He has been honored as Fellow of both the American Physical Society and Optical Society of America. He has served on the Committee on Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) Science, National Research Council, and Executive Committee of the American Physical Society's Division of Laser Science.

what can I say good about this book

Well, well, what can I say good about this book...

First of all I already have some basic experience with blender and Unreal Engine 4... but that does not mean, I have any expertise to present. I really have been watching forward to this book for monthes, a real disappointment
This is why I bought that book:

I hoped, it would help me to understand how to create some awesome looking assets within Blender for my game, but what I got was just a manual to create a Box and a strange hentai-egg-tentacle thing (which doesn't even comes close to a good looking asset). I thought ok maybe if I read a bit further he explains some basic AI - functions for a simple fight (I know this would be possible to explain within a few sides), to spice it up. Nope, nothing.

How about an own first, or third person character, you created in Blender and want to use it in your game?! Nope! He doesn't even mention movement inputs. Maybe you already know how to set those basics... Not even the slightest hint on how you could implement some of your own persons into your game... No human beeings (there are tons of freeware, where you can create persons - implement them into blender and set them up for UE4) No, the author focusses on a -only-for-this-example-of-game-useable-not-possible-to-fight-at-all-square-edged-hentai-egg-tentacle-thing (well you can use it technically, but seriously, a human would have been nice.)

Good you'll learn the content pretty fast, but the reason is there isn't really that much content to it. I managed to read the whole book within 3 hours. Let it be 10 hours to reproduce what is presented in this book.

This book would get 4 stars if it costs around 15 $ or 10 €, but seriously 60 $ or 35 € is way too much for this basic content.
Better learn with some youtube videos or free tutorial sides, you are able to learn the same stuff for free, if you invest a few hours of research among the internet.

Annotation to the author:
I know you know the engine, as well as you have knowledge on how to use Blender. And I know it costs time to write a book/manual. But would it have took so much afford to you, to give more or further information to readers? For this price you could have include way more. For example, a short enemy example, key (to open a door), some more boolean functions, rigging human characters, or at least how to implement some more complex animations, like walking. There is so much free stuff (don't know for sure if I'm allowed to call the names here), why didn't you present these in your book, I'm sure you know about them.

- The author explains how to export meshes and materials into UE4 (but to be honest this is no witchwork with the presented Painter which is very expensive after the 30day - trial)

- Always gives a summary after each chapter

- Understandable explanation

The cons:

- WAY TOO BASIC (what you'll learn here for this prize is also available on the internet for free)

- Many basics are MISSING (If it is a manual to show how the basics of each program works):
-> NO simple post - processing
-> VERY FEW functions of the mattinee
-> NO general meaning of the different variables
-> NO AI or enemy system (There are simple ways to show how this works; possible in 10 - 20 sides)
-> ONLY basic functions on Blender are shown (No sculpting tools, or what ever)
-> very short book (may be an subjective impression but he could have present way more content)

- Nothing to the first-/thirdperson character (he uses the mannequin template from UE4)

- No widget Blueprints

I was not sure to give 1 or 2 stars. I'll definitely try to return it..

This book is an excellent source of music for the movie, Spirit. My daughter loves the pictures and loves to hear her favorite songs being played on the piano. It is hard to get the book away from her to practice. I do wish there were more pictures. There are just a few. This would not be a good buy if the person is just getting the book for their child to look at the pictures.

These are my FAVORITE songs (from my favorite movie) and I play piano

Firstly, this sheet music is hard to find. All sheet music is, unless you are at a sheet music store, and even then, I hadn't seen it anywhere but the internet when I ordered it.

This paper-back book has all the songs from the Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron soundtrack (as you can tell from the details), as well as a couple of Hans Zimmer's instrumentals.

After ordering this, my only worry was that the piano/vocal/guitar style of music would be a hindrance to playing and/or a compromise to the quality of the sound. This was not the case. The notes sound exact and are not compromised or simplified in any way. This is as exact as transcription gets.

The music is written on three clefs: a vocal line and two piano lines, one for the melody and the other for the harmony. There are also chords written above the staves for those who prefer a less exact, perhaps easier-to-play sound.

One of my favorites remade...love it!

Spearwood Book One by A.S. Oren is a newly revamped Spearwood Academy. The book begins when Avalon is a child and spans the time from training with Edgar to when she first arrives at the academy. Old fans of the series will like it and for those that didn’t read the old series, you’ll fall in love with the characters and world.

Avalon is essentially the same girl we met in the original. She’s tough, can keep up with the boys, and doesn’t complain about her curse, she just meets it head on. The differences in the Avalon I know and this one is that she comes to Spearwood knowing who she is and all about the curse. She isn’t innocent and naive which is a good thing. Avalon also knows her heritage. She is part dragon-shifter and part angel. Though the angel part is something she is still learning when Avalon starts Spearwood, the dragon part she has under control.

A fussy baby receives "ten little kisses on teeny tiny toes/nine laughing kisses on busy, wriggly feet/eight squishy kisses on chubby, yummy knees," and so on down to "one last kiss on your sleepy, dreamy head." Each member of the family takes a turn bestowing kisses on the child: mom, dad, grandma, big sister, and even the dog and cat. Katz uses bold colors and lines to accent the flat, yet expressive illustrations. Heavy use of pink, combined with an array of brightly colored patterns, adds to the tender, happy tone of the story. Collage pieces are seamlessly woven into the gouache and colored-pencil illustrations, and Katz throws in some surprising perspectives, such as the mother kissing the baby's toes shown from the infant's point of view. The final spread, which shows the whole family smiling down at the sleeping child in her crib, epitomizes the loving warmth of this pitch-perfect bedtime story. Sure to put Smile on Baby's Face!

I bought this book for my daughter when she was four months old. From the first day she was absolutely captivated by the bright, colorful patterns in the pictures of this book. The story is so much fun and what baby could resist all those kisses? Now at ten months old she loves this book so much that I only have to recite the first line of the story, "My tired little baby, do you need a kiss..." or show her the cover of the book to elicit a huge, cheesy grin! After buying this book I was motivated to purchase several other books by Karen Katz. Her talent has made her my daughter's author/illustrator. Her books are the first chosen every time!

A Wonderful Bedtime Book for Baby or Young Toddler

We started reading this book to our daughter as bedtime story since she was two-month, and now she is almost two years old. We read it almost every night. The simple, bright and colorful context is very attractive, she definitely loves it. Also, counting numbers with kisses is great way for early education on math.

My baby is 8 months and is just beginning to be interested in this book. I think it is sweet and anticipate her enjoying it more as she gets older. Simple pictures and short loving text that includes both mommy and daddy if that is your family.
